Support our Chaplains

Real Men Challenge fully support the Chaplaincy Program.

For the second time, SU QLD has been called before the High Court of Australia to defend the school chaplaincy program.

This second challenge has the potential to impact the funding of thousands of chaplains across the nation who support and encourage Australian children every day.

Two years ago, we asked you to sign a Statement of Support to show the Federal Government that Australians are passionate about keeping chaplains in their local schools. The response was phenomenal, with 85,000 statements submitted.

Your support meant that within a week of the first High Court decision, both sides of parliament passed new legislation, protecting chaplaincy and a number of other important community programs.

This time, the same plaintiff is challenging that new legislation, which was put in place to protect our children’s right to have access to a caring, compassionate chappy. So I’m asking if you will again rally with us to show that the support of chaplaincy continues to grow.

Our dream is to present well over 100,000 signatures to key Members of Parliament and prove beyond a doubt that school chaplaincy is critically important to thousands of Queensland families.

I’m now asking you to ‘Back Our Chappies’ by signing our new Statement of Support, which is in direct response to this new High Court Challenge. Your signature will enable SU QLD to continue to give kids the vital support and encouragement of a school chaplain for generations to come.

As you fill in your Statement of Support, please also request a ‘Back Our Chappies Advocacy Kit‘ to rally support for chaplaincy from your colleagues, family, friends and community.

Finally, as we mount our defence, please consider giving a special gift today… Because our kids are worth it!

Warm regards,

Peter James
CEO, SU QLD

Responding to Kevin Rudd

As a Christian leader it was very disappointing to see Kevin Rudd manipulate, distort and misquote the NT to bully Christians into following his own viewpoint on Gay Marriage. This debate is often argued along the lines of discrimination, yet those who subscribe to a traditional Christian view of marriage are in fact being discriminated against. I am a man married to a woman but the Gay Marriage legislation will rob me of that identity and my traditions.

I would, however, support a civil union for all couples that does not change the current definition of marriage.

Thank you for reading this.

Another Challenge from  Steve McCracken

Mark 9:33-35 (NIV) They came to Capernaum. When He was in the house, He asked them, “What were you arguing about on the road?” But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest. Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”

This is such a clear statement of how God views life.

Life is not about being first and being the greatest. It’s not about making it to the top and being the most successful. Life is not about bigger, better or greater. Life is simply not about what many often pursue.

Life is about loving God and loving people. Life is about serving God and serving people. Life is about putting other people before ourselves. Life is about giving and not about getting.

Life from God’s perspective is up-side-down to what the world says life is all about. It’s not all about me – it’s about God and others. God’s ways truly are different to man’s ways.

“So is your focus more on yourself advancing or on helping others fulfil their God-given destiny?”

Let’s commit our lives to loving and serving others; to giving to them and adding value to them. This is God’s way.

2013 Men’s Conference Revelation 1

Being a Covenant Man

Ps Shane Baxter

Consider the cost of being a Covenant Man

  • Jesus paid the price
  • Man up
  • Suck it up and be the man

Let His kingdom come in marriages, families, churches, communities, the State

Men, we need to go to another level of Kingdom life
How?

Joshua 1:
No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not FAIL YOU or ABANDON YOU.

Does your family, wife, friends have confidence:

  • that you have their back …
  • they are safe …

The Spirit of love and commitment.

In a fallen world, we live under a Spirit of Abandonment

Men abandon people cause they are only interested in their own wellbeing.
Abandonment …

Young men

  • abandon their parents …
  • abandon their wives …
  • abandon their children …

The Spirit of the World

  • don’t like the wife … leave
  • don’t like the church … leave
  • pastors abandon churches
  • people abandon pastors

From the family unit to the PMs office is the Spirit of abandonment …

The Labor Party abandons the Prime Minister twice

Spirit of Abandonment is part of the world … you don’t like it, you just leave …

But it is not the Spirit of Christ

Our challenge is to follow the example of Jesus:

The Heart and Spirit of Covenant

I will be with you …

When a man finds Christ and a calling and position.

Be a covenant man …

Not led by the Spirit of abandonment but of covenant …

I will not fail you …

Grab your wives … I will not fail you … I will not turn my back on them …

I will not abandon my Pastor …

Selah … think on that

Scriptural examples:

2 Samuel 15:2

I vow by The Lord and by your own life that I will go wherever my lord the King goes, no matter what happens – whether it means life or death.

Eli the Gittite … to David …

You are with the people you are meant to be with …

Jonathon’s armour bearer

1 Samuel 14:7 do what you think is best, I’m with you completely, whatever you decide.

Ruth 1:16-17
Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Where you go, I will go; whereever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. Where you did, I will die, and there I will be buried. May The Lord punish me severely if I allow anything but death to seperate us.”

Men, let us make a commitment before God and man, we will be Covenant Men and not live by the Spirit of Abandonment.
